Olivia Yeo is a Vice President and Senior Editor at VideoTakes. She has been with the company for six years and oversees projects through all production phases.
Olivia’s keen and creative eye is evident in the award-winning videos she has edited for the American Prairie Foundation, the Wallace Genetic Foundation, the Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne, Fresh Farm Markets, Children’s National Medical Center, the National Building Museum, GRACE Heritage and the US ASEAN Film and Photography Festival.
Olivia’s colleagues regularly turn to her to solve technical problems that arise in the field and in the edit suite. As VideoTakes’ technical guru, Olivia is always eager to learn more about the equipment and programs that can make our industry both a creative dream and a technological nightmare.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Olivia’s work has taken her from the Ecuadorian rainforest to highlight the indelible effects of deforestation, to the Northern Great Plains of Montana to document the creation of a prairie-based wildlife reserve. Most recently Olivia traveled to Sedona, Arizona to film a public service announcement aimed at inspiring environmental consciousness and stewardship.
Olivia grew up in the island state of Singapore. Her thirst for books and films – from Shakespeare to Indiana Jones – brought her to the United Kingdom where she obtained her B.A (Hons) at the University of Reading, England, with a double major in English Literature and Film & Drama. Upon graduating, Olivia’s fascination with the United States took her to Washington, D.C., where she pursued her M.F.A in Film and Electronic Media at American University.
Olivia currently resides in Washington, DC with her dog, Delphine. She calls tennis her obsession, running her therapy, and merrymaking with friends her food for the soul! As a Buddhist, Olivia wishes to live life with a positive outlook and with compassion. She also fervently believes that when there is no passion, there is no life.
