Dan Gallagher is a writer, producer and
director at VideoTakes, Inc. Dan’s
work most recently took him to West Africa to film a promotional video for The
Gambia. Dan was accompanied on the
shoot by National Geographic Channel photographer Pablo Durana, who captured
The Gambia’s pristine beaches, luxury resorts, and lush countryside in full
1080p high-definition video. The
Gambia plans to release the ten-minute promotional video and an accompanying
one-minute trailer later this fall.
In 2008, Dan traveled to the rainforest of northern Guatemala to film in the Maya Biosphere Reserve – a park renowned for its pre-Columbian pyramids. Dan served as director of photography and producer on the video, which highlights successful forest management within the Reserve and is hosted by the World Resource Institute’s Chris Perceval. The short video “Roots of Resilience: Northern Guatemala” is now available on DVD.
Dan is currently preparing to direct historical recreations for a documentary on Henry A. Wallace: an agricultural innovator, early environmentalist, and Vice President under FDR. Dan’s other credits include producer/editor for “Scarred Lands & Wounded Lives”, a feature-length documentary on the environmental impact of war and military preparations, which was awarded a 2008 CINE Golden Eagle and nominated for 2008 Panda Award at Wildscreen.
Dan
earned his Master of Arts degree in Film and Video from American University in Washington,
