As a producer and writer for VideoTakes, Andrea combines her love of non-fiction media with her passion for environmental action. Using breathtaking HD footage of landscapes and wildlife, she produced two films about the dangers of oil and mineral development in the Alaskan wilderness. She also wrote and produced a short film for USAID about the Global Conservation Program, a project that incorporated six international non-profits with conservation initiatives around the globe.
Prior to joining VideoTakes, Andrea was an associate producer at Sapling Pictures, where she helped to create commercials and interstitials for the Discovery Channel. She also worked as an associate producer for the National Park Service, traveling to Montana and South Dakota to film a video about land use and the legacy of the Homestead Act.
Andrea received a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in environmental studies from the University of Oregon. After college, she was a production assistant for two production companies in Oregon, then worked for a year at a local news station. Andrea moved to Washington, DC in 2005 to attend film school at American University. During this time, she produced several documentaries, including “EcoViews: The Chesapeake Bay,” a special for Maryland Public Television that won a regional Student Emmy Award. Andrea graduated with her Master of Fine Arts degree in Film and Electronic Media in 2008.
