VideoTakes, Inc. Wins Two Prestigious CINE Golden Eagle Awards!

Washington, DC, July 2008 – VideoTakes, Inc. is pleased to announce that two films we produced with our clients have won prestigious CINE Golden Eagle Awards. The CINE Golden Eagles honor Sinnerman, a PSA produced in partnership with Joan Murray of the Wallace Genetic Foundation, and Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives: The Environmental Footprint of War, a documentary produced for Alice and Lincoln Day and the Fund for Sustainable Tomorrows.

The CINE Golden Eagle Awards are recognized internationally as symbols of the highest production standards in film and video. The entries are judged for overall excellence and individual criteria such as storytelling, production value, artistry, and the extent to which the film meets its stated goals and communicates with its intended audience.

Cut to the song Sinnerman, as performed by the late Nina Simone, the PSA makes it clear that individuals can choose to change the world for the better or worse. Joan Murray of Wallace Genetic Foundation wrote the PSA and partnered with Sandy Cannon-Brown, president of VideoTakes, Inc., to produce the high-definition spot. Wayne Westbrook was director of photography with additional footage from Larry Engel and Getty Images. Olivia Yeo, vice president of VideoTakes, Inc., was the principal editor. Henninger Media Services provided post-production and DVD services. David Haselkorn stars as Sinnerman.

Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives premiered on opening night at the 2008 DC Environmental Film Festival, garnering strong public and critical acclaim. The 68-minute documentary was written, produced and directed by Alice and Lincoln Day with VideoTakes, Inc. VideoTakes’ Dan Gallagher co produced, co-wrote and edited the documentary while President Sandy Cannon-Brown supervised the project. Scarred Lands and Wounded Lives: The Environmental Footprint of War also is a finalist for Wildscreen, the world's largest and most prestigious international wildlife and environmental film festival, held every two years in Bristol, UK.

VideoTakes, Inc. is an award-winning, woman-owned production company headquartered in Arlington, VA. Sandy Cannon-Brown founded the company in 1985. Chris Palmer joined as CEO in 2005.
